Volunteering for your local Fire Department can be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in your life. Being a volunteer takes strength, courage, common sense, problem solving skills and the willingness to help others. You will be offered the training and opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on people’s lives. You will get the chance to be somebody’s HERO!

There are many volunteer positions available at your local Departments. We are always in need of Firefighters but understand that everyone may not have the time to complete the rigorous training associated with becoming a certified firefighter. One does not have to run into burning buildings to volunteer. There are many other duties and “behind the scenes” functions which can be performed that are vital to the overall success of a Fire Department. Some examples include directing traffic at the scene of an accident until Law Enforcement Officers arrive to assure the safety of other personnel, operating the pump on the truck at the scene of a fire, assisting with salvage and overhaul operations after the fire is out and assisting in getting the trucks and equipment back in service and ready for the next call.

There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer in the Fire Service. The greatest is a sense of belonging to a brotherhood that is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. You will develop stronger ties to your community and get a general feeling of self satisfaction from helping others. You will make friends and establish a social network made up of the finest people in the community.

WE NEED YOU! Every year, each of the volunteer fire departments in Montgomery County sees an increase in their run volume. As this number rises, so does the need for more dedicated people to help answer the calls. We respond to emergencies 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Volunteers are a vital part of our efforts to stand ready to serve whenever an emergency occurs. We encourage you to become part of our team and join us in volunteerism that focuses on helping others.
