Montgomery County Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Day

 The Montgomery County Commission set aside April 6 as Montgomery County Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Day.  The eight Montgomery volunteer fire departments were honored for their dedication and commitment to serving the citizens of Montgomery County. 

Firefighter Appreciation Day was held at Garrett Coliseum from 8:30am until noon. Several firefighters throughout the county and their immediate families attended the event. 

A firefighter challenge took place during the event. Firefighters tested their skills against other departments while being timed. The following teams placed in the competition:

First place – North Montgomery VFD

Second Place – Snowdoun VFD

Third Place – Pike Road VFD

Haynes Ambulance sponsored a Montgomery County Firefighter of the Year award.  Michael Kreauter, Haynes Ambulance, presented the award to Chad Robinson of South Montgomery VFD.
